Spirulina is a blue-green algae, one of the oldest forms of life on earth, which helped produce oxygen for millions of years so that other forms of life could appear. It is used as a basis in the nutrition of cosmonauts.
Spirulina is found naturally in warm alkaline lakes in Africa and Central and South America and cultivated in alkaline water. It was consumed, among other peoples, by the Aztecs, who confirmed its nutritional importance, earning today the name of superfood. The name Spirulia comes from the spiral shape of the algae. The green color of the algae is given by chlorophyll, and the blue color by an exotic pigment called phycocyanin.
Spirulina is a true survivor, being able to withstand temperatures of 70 degrees Celsius, the temperature at which it preserves its nutrients.
Once harvested, it is dehydrated and transformed into a dense powder. Tablets are pressed automatically without agglomeration or binding agents.
