Sodium butyrate , which is a salt of butyric acid with a specific smell, belongs to the group of short-chain fatty acids. It is found in small amounts in some foods. After ingestion, it is rapidly absorbed in the upper parts of the digestive tract. Multilac IBS contains sodium butyrate in the form of micropellets, which facilitate its distribution throughout the digestive tract, ensuring efficient action in the large intestine. The protected form of sodium butyrate additionally masks its characteristic odor.
