The Advantix product for dogs is part of a comprehensive range suitable for different weight categories, offering effective protection against fleas, ticks, mosquitoes, sand flies and horseflies.

The combination of active ingredients – imidacloprid and permethrin – gives the product a dual mechanism of action, acting as both an insecticide and a repellent, thereby reducing both the parasite load and the risk of transmission of vector-borne pathogens.

Forms of supply

Advantix is available as a spot-on solution packaged in single-dose pipettes, tailored to the dog’s body weight. The range includes the following variants:

Advantix for dogs weighing less than 4 kg – 0.4 ml;
Advantix for dogs weighing 4 to 10 kg – 1.0 ml;
Advantix for dogs weighing 10 to 25 kg – 2.5 ml;
Advantix for dogs over 25 kg – 4.0 ml;
Advantix for dogs weighing 40 to 60 kg – 6.0 ml.

Indications for use

Advantix spot-on is indicated for:

the treatment and prevention of flea infestation (Ctenocephalides canis, Ctenocephalides felis);
preventing re-infestation by fleas for up to four weeks;
use as an integral part of the treatment strategy for flea-induced allergic dermatitis;
the control of tick infestations (Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ixodes ricinus, Dermacentor reticulatus);
repellent (anti-feeding) action against sand flies, mosquitoes and horseflies.

Dosage regimen

The dosage is based on the dog’s body weight, using a pipette appropriate for the weight category.

Application should be carried out once a month to maintain continuous protection.

Contraindications

Advantix is contraindicated:

in cats, due to the toxicity of permethrin to this species;
in dogs with known hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or excipients;
in puppies under 7 weeks of age;
on broken or irritated skin.

Special instructions for use

Correct administration involves application exclusively to intact skin.

In dogs weighing less than 10 kg, the contents of the pipette should be applied to a single spot between the shoulders. In dogs weighing more than 10 kg, the solution should be distributed across four spots.

It is essential that the solution is not applied in large quantities at a single point, to prevent it from dripping onto the fur.

Side effects

Adverse reactions are rare and usually temporary. They may include erythema, local itching, alopecia at the application site or lethargy.

In very rare cases, accidental ingestion may cause neurological signs such as tremors or lethargy, which require symptomatic treatment under veterinary supervision.

Interactions with other medicines and food

No significant drug interactions are known when Advantix is used as recommended. As a topical product, it does not interact directly with food or supplements administered orally.

Overdose

Overdose may occur if a pipette unsuitable for the dog’s weight is used. Symptoms include skin irritation or, in severe cases, neurological signs. There is no specific antidote and treatment is symptomatic.

Storage conditions

The product must be stored in its original packaging, at temperatures below 25 °C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children and pets.
