The trout is farmed in Clew Bay on the west coast of Ireland. The bay is separated from the open Atlantic Ocean by Achill Island. The trout are thus protected from the direct influence of the ocean. Thanks to the action of the Gulf Stream, the warm waters of the bays also attract dolphins.
