Diclofenac gel 5%, 45 g, Terapia
Read the leaflet carefully and completely before you start using this medicine, because it contains important information for you. Always use this medicine as directed in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Indications:
Diclofenac Terapia contains the active substance diclofenac, which is part of the group of drugs called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is specially created to be absorbed into the skin by massage.
Diclofenac Terapia is used to relieve pain and reduce inflammation and edema in painful conditions affecting the joints and muscles. It can be used to treat the following conditions:
Adolescent adults aged 14 and over:
- Joint and muscle trauma (eg sprains, dislocations, bruises, back pain, sports injuries).
- Tendinitis (eg lateral epicondylitis)
Adults only (age 18 and over):
- Mild arthritis of the knees or fingers
Composition:
- The active substance is diclofenac sodium. One gram of gel contains diclofenac sodium 50 mg.
Administration method:
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
For adults and adolescents over 14 years of age:
Diclofenac Terapia is intended for administration on the skin.
Apply Diclofenac Terapia 3 or 4 times a day, on the painful surface.
How to apply Diclofenac Terapia
1. Before the first use, pierce the sealing membrane with the sharp tip of the cap.
Diclofenac Terapia is used holding the tube upside down. Press the tip of the tube to obtain the required amount of gel.
2. Gently remove a small amount of gel from the tube and apply it to the painful or swollen area and gently massage into the skin. The amount required depends on the size of the painful or swollen area. Usually, an amount ranging from the size of a cherry to that of a walnut is required. You will feel a slight soothing sensation when you massage the gel into the skin.
3. Wash your hands after applying Diclofenac Terapia, unless they represent the treated surface.
How long should you use Diclofenac Therapy
Do not use Diclofenac Terapia more than:
Adults and adolescents aged 14 and over
-2 weeks for joint and muscle trauma (eg sprains, strains, bruises) or tendinitis
Adults only (18 years and over):
-3 weeks for pain associated with arthritis
A longer treatment may be recommended by a doctor.
Contraindications:
Do not use Diclofenac Terapia
- if you are allergic to diclofenac sodium, to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen or acetylsalicylic acid or to any of the other components of this medicine (listed in point 6). Symptoms of an allergic reaction to these
- medications may include: wheezing or difficulty breathing (asthma); skin rash with blisters or hives; swelling of the face or tongue; runny nose
- if you have had attacks of bronchial asthma, urticaria or rhinitis allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as ibuprofen.
- if you have a stomach (gastric) or duodenal ulcer.
- if you are pregnant in the last 3 months of pregnancy.
- if you have skin lesions such as eczema, infected wounds, burns, cuts, open wounds.
- if you are under 14 years old.
Precautions
- Before using Diclofenac Terapia gel, consult your doctor or pharmacist.
- DO NOT apply Diclofenac Terapia to mucous membranes, especially to the eyes. If this happens, rinse your eyes with plenty of water and contact your doctor or pharmacist.
- DO NOT apply Diclofenac Terapia if you have skin lesions such as cuts, open wounds or skin with hives or eczema.
- If you develop a skin rash after applying Diclofenac Terapia, stop the treatment immediately.
- DO NOT apply Diclofenac Terapia to large areas of skin and for a long time, because the occurrence of general adverse reactions, known in the case of oral forms of diclofenac, cannot be excluded.
- If you use Diclofenac Terapia for a long time: you must wear gloves when applying the gel.
- If you have had or have gastrointestinal bleeding.
- DO NOT use oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (including diclofenac) at the same time.
- Diclofenac Terapia is for external use only. Do not use in the oral cavity. Do not swallow.
- A brace or elastic bandage can be used to treat sprains, but do not use elastic occlusive (plastic) bandages.
- Do not expose yourself to the sun or tanning beds while using Diclofenac Terapia.
- Children and adolescents:
- Data on the safety and effectiveness of administration in children and adolescents under 14 years old are insufficient.
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
Diclofenac Terapia should not be used during the last 3 months of pregnancy, because it can affect the fetus or create problems at birth. Diclofenac Terapia should be used only on recommendation
the doctor during the first 6 months of pregnancy and the dose should be kept as low as possible and the duration of treatment as short as possible.
During breastfeeding, Diclofenac Terapia should be used only on the doctor's recommendation, as diclofenac passes in small amounts into breast milk. However, Diclofenac Terapia should not be applied to the breasts by nursing mothers, nor elsewhere on large areas of skin or for a
longer period of time.
Driving vehicles and using machines:
Diclofenac Terapia has no influence on the ability to drive vehicles and use machines.
