This medication is designed for individuals with functional abdominal bloating and distension (FABD) and small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). Abdominal bloating is often accompanied by a feeling of a gas-filled abdomen or a balloon in the stomach, without any actual increase in abdominal girth. The resulting pressure or feeling of fullness can be extremely uncomfortable and distressing. In abdominal distension, the abdomen visibly protrudes due to trapped air, which can cause discomfort. The mechanism of action of Lefaxan® protect is therefore based on a physical barrier effect, which can alleviate gas-related discomfort.
