Description Arthrovet
The information in the FAQ section was created by the Liki24.be team and is based on the official manufacturer's manual
Arthrovet is a veterinary dietary supplement designed to support the normal functioning of cartilage and joints in dogs and cats, and is recommended for both the prevention and management of degenerative joint disorders. Joint conditions, such as osteoarthritis, joint dysplasia or chronic inflammatory processes of the musculoskeletal system, are common problems in veterinary medicine, particularly in older animals or breeds predisposed to osteoarticular disorders.
Forms of supply
Available forms include twist-off capsules for small animals, tablets for dogs and cats, and sachets containing hydrolysed collagen.
Arthrovet Complex Small Breed Twist-Off is available as soft capsules, which are easy to administer and can be opened and mixed into food.
Arthrovet Complex is also available in tablet form (boxes of 60 or 90 tablets), intended primarily for dogs or medium and large animals.
Another option is Arthrovet Collagen II, available in sachets containing type II collagen, an important structural component of joint cartilage.
Indications for use
Arthrovet Complex capsules or tablets are indicated for supporting joint and cartilage health in dogs and cats, particularly in situations where there is an increased risk of damage to joint structures.
The supplement is used both preventively and as an adjunct in the treatment of osteoarticular conditions.
The product can be administered to growing animals, when the osteoarticular system is subjected to intense stress, as well as to adult or elderly animals suffering from osteoarthritis or other degenerative joint disorders.
Dosage regimen
The dosage of Arthrovet Complex depends on the pharmaceutical form used and the animal’s body weight.
- For Arthrovet Complex Twist-Off, cats are generally given one capsule per day, and dogs are given approximately one capsule per 5 kg of body weight per day.
- For Arthrovet Complex tablets, the usual dosage is one tablet per 20 kg of body weight per day.
- For Arthrovet Collagen II, the recommended dose is one sachet per 20 kg of body weight per day.
Contraindications
Arthrovet Complex must not be administered to animals with known hypersensitivity to any of the product’s components. Furthermore, the supplement should be used with caution in animals with known allergies to soya or other plant-based ingredients present in the formula.
In the case of animals with severe chronic conditions or those undergoing complex drug treatments, it is recommended to consult a veterinarian before starting supplementation.
Special instructions for use
Arthrovet Twist-off capsules or tablets should be administered in accordance with the veterinary surgeon’s instructions and the directions on the packaging.
During administration, the animal must have constant access to fresh water. It is also important to monitor the animal’s general condition to adjust the dose or duration of treatment.
Side effects
Arthrovet is generally well tolerated by most animals. In rare cases, mild digestive disturbances such as diarrhoea or gastrointestinal discomfort may occur, particularly at the start of treatment.
Allergic reactions are rare, but may occur in animals sensitive to certain components of the product.
Interactions with other medicines and food
No significant interactions between Arthrovet and other veterinary medicines have been reported.
The supplement may be administered concurrently with anti-inflammatory or analgesic therapies, or other products intended to support joint health.
Overdose
There are no data to suggest the occurrence of severe toxic reactions in the event of accidental overdose. However, administration of excessive amounts may cause transient digestive disturbances.
If a dose significantly higher than the recommended amount is ingested, it is advisable to consult a veterinary surgeon.
Storage conditions
Arthrovet should be stored in a dry place, protected from moisture and direct sunlight, at temperatures up to 25°C. The product should be kept in its original packaging and kept out of the reach of children.
It is also important to follow the instructions on the packaging and your vet’s recommendations regarding use and duration of treatment.
