Parkovit

Parkovit is available in tablets for oral administration. The pack contains 90 tablets, sufficient for three months of daily administration, which promotes treatment adherence in patients with chronic conditions.

Parkovit contains a carefully selected combination of essential micronutrients:

• Folic acid – 1000 µg/tablet, essential for the remethylation of homocysteine into methionine, thereby helping to reduce plasma homocysteine levels;
• Vitamin B12 – 5 µg/tablet, an essential cofactor in homocysteine metabolism and in maintaining normal neurological function;
• Vitamin D3 – 20 µg (800 IU) per tablet, which contributes to healthy bones, muscle function and supports cognitive performance.

Parkovit Vitamins is indicated for patients with Parkinson’s disease, particularly those undergoing long-term treatment with levodopa, in whom there is evidence of or a high risk of:

• increased plasma homocysteine levels;
• functional deficiency of folic acid and vitamin B12;
• risk of cognitive impairment, dementia or memory decline;
• increased cardiovascular risk (atherothrombosis, venous thrombosis, stroke, myocardial infarction);
• bone damage, including osteoporosis and an increased risk of fractures.

This formula addresses the increased micronutrient requirements observed in patients with Parkinson’s disease, particularly in the context of levodopa therapy.

The recommended dose is one tablet per day, to be taken preferably with a glass of water, during one of the main meals. 

This simple dosing regimen allows for easy integration into the patient’s daily routine and helps maintain consistent plasma levels of essential micronutrients.

Parkovit Parkinson is contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity to any of the product’s components. 

Furthermore, administration should be considered with caution in patients with rare metabolic disorders involving the metabolism of vitamin B12 or folic acid.

Parkovit tablets are intended for long-term use as part of an integrated treatment strategy for patients with Parkinson’s disease.

Periodic monitoring of homocysteine, vitamin B12 and vitamin D levels is recommended, particularly in elderly patients or those with multiple comorbidities. 

In general, Parkovit is well tolerated. Mild digestive disturbances or hypersensitivity reactions may rarely occur. 

High-dose folic acid administration may mask vitamin B12 deficiency, which is why the combination of the two vitamins in the formulation is considered a clinical advantage.

No significant clinical interactions have been reported between Parkovit and anti-Parkinson’s drugs. However, certain medicines may affect the absorption of vitamin B12 or folic acid, which is why it is recommended to inform your doctor. 

Concomitant administration with food does not reduce the product’s efficacy and is even recommended for optimal digestive tolerability.

No cases of overdose have been reported under normal conditions of use. 

However, taking excessive and prolonged doses of folic acid can cause metabolic imbalances, which is why it is recommended not to exceed the indicated daily dose.

Parkovit should be stored at room temperature, protected from moisture and direct light, in the original packaging. Keep out of the reach of children. Observe the expiry date printed on the packaging.
