Betadine Disinfectant Solution 120 ml
Description
Disinfectant (antiseptic) solution has a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity, killing bacteria, viruses, fungi and protozoa. Disinfectant solution is used for:
- Disinfection of the skin before injection, blood sampling, tissue collection, transfusion or infusion,
- Preoperative disinfection of skin and mucous membranes,
- Wound treatment,
- Treatment of bacterial or fungal infections,
- Complete or partial preoperative disinfection of the patient (disinfectant bath).
Dosage
The solution is used either concentrated or as a diluted 10% (1:10) or 1% (1:100) solution, depending on the application site. The 10% aqueous solution (diluted 1:10 with water) is used for cleaning and treating burns, for disinfecting mucous membranes and in cases of bacterial or fungal infections.
How to use
The solution is intended for topical use only. The solution must always be diluted immediately before use. It is recommended to leave it on the desired area for at least 15-30 seconds. The diluted solution must be used immediately and must not be stored. During preoperative preparation, it is necessary to prevent the solution from accumulating under the patient and forming a puddle, as burns may occur. Prolonged exposure to the solution (via a moistened dressing) may cause irritation or, rarely, severe skin reactions. Stains from the solution can be removed from textiles with lukewarm water and, in the case of extensive stains, with a sodium thiosulfate solution.
Warning
The solution should not be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The solution can be used in pregnant and breastfeeding women only after consultation with a doctor, only if strictly indicated and in absolutely minimal quantities. Use in premature newborns, newborns and infants is not recommended. If the use of the above-mentioned drug is necessary, it can be done after individual consideration and under constant medical supervision. In the rest of the pediatric population, the use of povidone-iodine should be limited to a minimum. The use of the drug is contraindicated in hyperthyroidism or other acute thyroid diseases. In patients with goiter, thyroid nodules or other non-acute thyroid diseases, the solution should not be used for a longer period and on larger areas of the skin. The solution must not be used before treatment or examination with radioactive iodine. The solution must not be used together with alkaline salts, hydrogen peroxide, taurolidine, tannin, silver and mercury salts. Store at a temperature not exceeding 25 ºC in the original packaging to protect from light.
