The medicine belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It suppresses inflammation, relieves pain and reduces fever. The anti-inflammatory effect is due to the reduction of the production of harmful substances (prostaglandins) that are produced during inflammation. The pain-relieving effect probably has a similar mechanism.

The medicine is used to relieve mild to moderate pain, such as headache, backache, toothache, menstrual pain, pain in soft tissue injuries such as bruises or sprains, pain after minor surgeries, muscle and joint pain in flu and colds. The medicine also relieves inflammation and reduces temperature in feverish conditions. The medicine is used on the recommendation of a doctor in rheumatic diseases.

Dosage

Adults:

• Pain treatment: 1 tablet is recommended once or as needed, up to 3 tablets per day. For feverish illnesses, 1 tablet is taken 3 times a day. The interval between doses should be at least 4 hours.
• Treatment of rheumatic diseases: the recommended dose is 1200-1600 mg per day, divided into several doses. In severe and acute cases, the doctor may increase the dose in the acute phase of the disease, the total daily dose should not exceed 2400 mg divided into several doses.

Children from 12 years of age: The average total daily dose is 20-30 mg/kg body weight, divided into several doses. In juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, the daily dose may be increased to 40 mg/kg body weight.

Patients with renal or hepatic impairment: The lowest effective dose should be administered, individual dose titration is necessary.

The duration of treatment is decided by a doctor (do not use for a long time without consultation).

How to use

The tablets are taken whole and washed down with sufficient liquid. The first morning dose can be taken on an empty stomach, for faster relief of symptoms (morning stiffness). The remaining doses are taken after meals. The tablets should not be chewed, broken, crushed or sucked. It is necessary to keep the intervals between individual doses.

Warning

• The drug is not indicated for children under 12 years of age.
• The drug is contraindicated in the third trimester of pregnancy. During the first and second trimesters of pregnancy, the drug should not be administered unless clearly necessary (administration of low doses, shortest possible duration of treatment).
• The drug is not recommended for use during breastfeeding.
• The drug may cause a decrease in female fertility, therefore it is not recommended for use in women trying to conceive (if necessary, use low doses, and keep the duration of treatment as short as possible)
• Ibuprofen treatment may affect the reaction time of patients, which should be taken into account when increased attention is required (driving or operating machinery).
• Do not drink alcohol
