Oncovet
Description Oncovet
The information in the FAQ section was created by the Liki24.be team and is based on the official manufacturer's manual
Oncovet is a veterinary supplement used as a nutritional aid and antioxidant for dogs and cats, particularly in the context of oncological conditions or associated treatments, such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy or surgical procedures.
With its complex composition, the product is designed to improve the animal’s general condition, reduce the nutritional impact of the disease and support the body during periods of intense metabolic stress.
Forms of supply
Oncovet is available in two main forms – tablets or powder.
Each Oncovet tablet contains L-glutamine, Silybum marianum extract, pomegranate extract, green tea extract, curcumin, standardised grape seed extract and L-selenomethionine.
Oncovet II powder is recommended for both dogs and cats of all ages. It contains whey protein, L-proline, L-lysine, L-arginine, niacinamide, sodium ascorbate, vitamin D3, vitamin K3, lipoic acid, magnesium gluconate and zinc-chelated methionine.
Indications for use
Oncovet Stangest is indicated as an adjunct in dogs and cats with oncological conditions, particularly in animals undergoing anti-tumour treatments and who develop poor nutritional status, fatigue, loss of appetite or reduced tolerance to specific therapies.
Oncovet is useful for alleviating side effects such as alopecia, nausea and physical exhaustion, whilst simultaneously helping to strengthen the immune system and reduce the risk of recurrence.
Dosage regimen
For Oncovet tablets, the recommended dosage is 1 tablet twice daily for every 10 kg of body weight.
For Oncovet II powder, the dosage varies according to body weight. For small animals, 0.6 g per 2 kg of body weight is recommended, twice daily, and for medium or large animals, 3 g per 10 kg of body weight is recommended, twice daily.
Contraindications
In animals with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients, administration should be undertaken with caution or avoided.
Furthermore, in animals with severe liver, digestive or metabolic disorders, the introduction of any supplement should only be carried out following the recommendation of a veterinary surgeon, particularly when the patient is already undergoing a complex therapeutic regimen
Special considerations
An important point is that Oncovet Stangest is intended exclusively for veterinary use. The product must be administered in accordance with the instructions on the label, without empirical adjustments to the dose.
In the case of Oncovet II powder, combination with Oncovet I is recommended as part of a complementary nutritional and antioxidant support strategy.
Side effects
The product may occasionally be associated with digestive intolerance, transient changes in appetite or refusal to eat, particularly in sensitive animals.
Should serious reactions or unusual symptoms occur, such as repeated vomiting, diarrhoea, marked lethargy or rapid deterioration in general condition, the owner must inform the veterinarian.
Interactions with other medicines and food
As Oncovet is frequently intended for animals already undergoing oncological, anti-inflammatory, antibiotic or analgesic treatment, it is prudent to discuss its administration with the attending veterinarian.
Certain antioxidant or hepatoprotective ingredients may be beneficial within the context of complex therapy, but their inclusion must be approached rationally.
Overdose
Excessive intake of the supplement may upset the digestive balance or complicate the clinical monitoring of the patient.
In the event of accidental overdose, it is recommended to contact the vet immediately. They will assess the clinical context, the amount ingested and the animal’s general condition to determine whether observation or symptomatic treatment is required.
Storage conditions
Oncovet must be stored in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, in a safe place, out of reach of children. It must be stored in a place protected from moisture and direct sunlight, at temperatures up to 25°C. Compliance with these conditions is important for maintaining the stability of the active ingredients and the quality of the product.
