The Medela Harmony Silicone Diaphragm is a replacement part for manual breast pumps designed to assist in the suction of breast milk. It is made of silicone, a material that is very easy to clean and sterilize.

This diaphragm connects the two parts of the breast pump: the milk collection system and the pressure valve. It has a hole in the middle that allows suction but prevents milk from reaching the pump. The advantage of this is that the milk won't clog the pump and will always go directly to the bottle.

This product has the ability to completely isolate the inside of the breast pump from the environment. This is how breast milk can be obtained by simulating the infant's sucking. If the diaphragm did not function in this way, no pressure would be exerted on the breast and the milk would not flow at all.

Silicone is a soft and very flexible material. Since the product will be in constant contact with the pressure pump, this is very important. The reason for this is that it won't easily wear down the silicone due to the friction generated.

To attach the accessory to the extractor, simply remove the pump system and replace it with the old one if it has been in use for a long time. It is not necessary to completely disassemble the extractor unless its parts are going to be cleaned. To reattach it to the extractor, simply apply a little pressure until it fits correctly.

The diaphragm and all other components of the extractor should always be washed after each use with neutral soap. It is also important to keep it dry to prevent bacterial growth.

Since this component directly connects the extraction and collection systems, it must be handled with care. This means that when removing it for cleaning, excessive force should not be applied. If it becomes worn, the extraction process will not work correctly, and it will come loose frequently.
