Mezym 25000, 20 capsules, Berlin-Chemie Ag

Mezym is used in children and adults with "exocrine pancreatic insufficiency".

In disorders of the exocrine function of the pancreas caused by chronic pancreatitis, cystic fibrosis, nutritional disorders, flatulence and the Roemheldscher symptomatic complex; recommended in simultaneous resections of the stomach and small intestine, accelerated intestinal transit (nervousness, infectious intestinal diseases), disorders in the hepatobiliary system, dyspepsia; simultaneous administration of vegetable, fatty or difficult to digest food.

Mezym forte is also indicated for the removal of gases from the intestine before diagnostic explorations (X-ray therapy).

Composition:

• The active substance is pancreatin 356.1 mg corresponding to 25000 U lipase, 22500 U amylase and 1250 U protease.
• The other ingredients are: core: croscarmellose sodium, microcrystalline cellulose, hydrogenated castor oil, colloidal anhydrous silica, magnesium stearate; gastro-resistant film: methacrylic acid:ethyl acrylate copolymer 1:1, suspension 30%, triethyl citrate, simethicone emulsion 30%, talc, purified water; hard gelatin capsule: cap: indigo carmine (E 132), quinoline yellow (E 104), titanium dioxide (E 171), gelatin; body: titanium dioxide (E 171), yellow iron oxide (E 172), red iron oxide (E 172), gelatin.

Method of administration:

• The dose is determined individually.
• Generally, 1 - 2 tablets are taken at the beginning of a meal.
• Depending on the nature of the food ingested and the known degree of pancreatic insufficiency, 2-4 more tablets can be taken during meals. The individual dose may be even higher.
• Dosage for children is solely the responsibility of the doctor.
• The tablets are swallowed before meals, with a little liquid.
• The duration of administration is determined by the doctor.

Contraindications:

Do not use Mezym 25000 if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to pancreatic enzymes, proteins of porcine origin or any of the other ingredients of Mezym 25000.

Pregnancy, breastfeeding and fertility

• If you are pregnant, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
• Your doctor will decide whether you should use Mezym and in what dose.
• Mezym can be used during breastfeeding after careful evaluation by the doctor of the benefit to the mother/risk to the infant ratio.

Driving and using machines

• Mezym 25000 has no effects on the ability to drive and use machines.
