Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), both omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids, are essential fatty acids. They are called "essential" because the body cannot produce them on its own, so they must be obtained from food sources. They are found in oily fish, some leafy green vegetables, flaxseed oil, and certain vegetable oils.
EPA and DHA contribute to the proper functioning of the heart. This beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 250 mg of EPA and DHA.
Red yeast rice (Monascus purpureus) contains active compounds called monacolins that inhibit the liver's synthesis of cholesterol. One of these is monacolin K, which, with a daily dose of 10 mg, contributes to maintaining normal blood cholesterol levels.
Posology:
It is recommended to take two capsules a day, preferably in the morning.
