How does the RecoMed ® thickener work?
ReMed® thickener is a powder product that does not change the taste and smell of liquids and thickened foods. It is characterized by the action of the enzyme amylase , which occurs naturally in the body and is responsible for breaking down carbohydrates, especially starch. This means that it does not degrade during the digestive processes that take place in the mouth and digestive tract, where amylase activity is most intense. This allows the thickener to maintain its structure, which can support slower absorption of carbohydrates and stabilization of blood levels.
