Activlab Pharma FoliActiv 400 is a food supplement designed to supplement the daily diet of adult women who are planning a child or are pregnant. Each capsule of the preparation provides the body with 400 µg of folate in the form of calcium L-methylfolate.
Folic acid - properties
Methylfolate is a B vitamin, or more precisely , the biologically active form of vitamin B9 (folic acid) . Low levels of maternal folic acid are a risk factor for the development of neural tube defects in the developing fetus. The beneficial effect occurs with an additional daily intake of 400 μg of folic acid for at least one month before conception and a maximum of three months after conception.
Folate also participates in the process of cell division and contributes to the growth of maternal tissues during pregnancy. They also help in the proper synthesis of amino acids, while playing a role in proper blood production. Folic acid also supports the proper functioning of the immune system and helps reduce the feeling of tiredness and fatigue.
