Prima ® Home Aminocheck is a self-monitoring test that allows you to detect probable leakage of amniotic fluid in pregnant women. The medical device in the form of convenient and discreet test inserts is recommended for pregnant women in the high-risk group and outside this group.
What is the purpose of a test to detect amniotic fluid leaks?
Leakage of amniotic fluid increases the risk of infection for both mother and fetus, so early detection can:
- preventing complications or premature birth,
- helps to identify possible rupture of membranes, especially after amniocentesis,
- help confirm that the water has broken so the patient can get to the hospital in time for safe delivery.
Amniotic fluid has a higher pH compared to urine. The Amniocheck test kit contains 5 inserts that change color to blue or green of any intensity when the pH changes. Properly prompt medical consultation after detection of amniotic fluid leaks can protect against complications.
A change from yellow to blue or green in any part of the insert indicates a possible amniotic fluid leak - this should be consulted with a doctor immediately. The indicator strip in the insert can also turn blue in case of a vaginal infection - for this reason, it is important to consult your doctor when changing the color of the insert.
The Aminocheck test is also recommended in situations where the fetal membranes may have ruptured, for example after amniocentesis. It also allows you to confirm the breaking of the amniotic fluid, which heralds the beginning of labor, so that the pregnant woman can get to the hospital on time.
