Composition:
The fruits of the anise plant - Pimpinella anisum L.
Active principles
Essential oil (consisting of anethole, estragole, dianethole, α and β-pinene, limonene, anisole, linalool, terpineol, vanillin, anisic acid), coumarins ( umbelliferone), furanocoumarins (bergapten), flavones, lipids, proteins, sugars, substances minerals.
Expectorant, digestive tonic, antiseptic, antispasmodic, diuretic, anticoagulant, stomach aperitif (stimulates the secretion of gastrointestinal juices), carminative (helps eliminate intestinal gases); vermifuge; galactogogue (stimulates lactate secretion), emmenagogue (favors the initiation of the menstrual cycle), stimulates glandular secretions (salivary, gastric, intestinal, biliary, mammary).
Main uses
Internally: used as adjuvant in: intestinal colic, bloating, abdominal colic in infants, intestinal parasites, pancreatic insufficiency, indigestion, stimulates milk secretion, bronchitis, spastic cough, tracheitis, laryngitis, asthma, influenza, nervous asthenia, psychogenic vomiting, disorders menstruation, anorexia.
Administration method
Internally: infusion - pour 250 ml of boiling water over a teaspoon of the plant. The dish is covered and left to rest for 10-15 minutes, after which it is strained. Drink 2-3 cups of tea a day 30 minutes before main meals. For infants, prepare an infusion of 5-6 fruits per 100 ml of boiling water.
Contraindications
Pregnancy, allergy to anise and alcohol, hyperacid gastritis and gastric and duodenal ulcer, chronic and acute enterocolitis.
Cautions
It can interfere with anticoagulant products, antiaggregant-platelets, thrombolytic agents, low molecular weight heparins when administered simultaneously.
