Read the leaflet carefully and completely before you start using this medicine, because it contains important information for you. Always use this medicine as directed in this leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
Diclofenac MCC contains as an active substance diclofenac which is part of the class of drugs known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for local use.
It is used in symptomatic local treatment in adults to reduce pain and inflammation:
- muscular or osteoarticular of rheumatic origin;
- in the case of post-operative and post-traumatic edemas (eg sprains);
- muscular or osteoarticular of a traumatic nature (slight injuries of tendons, muscles, ligaments, etc.).
Composition:
The active substance is diclofenac sodium. One gram of gel contains diclofenac sodium 50 mg.
Administration method:
Always use Diclofenac MCC exactly as your doctor has told you. You should talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
Diclofenac MCC is intended for administration on the skin.
Grown ups:
Diclofenac MCC is administered 3-4 times a day to the affected area. The dose administered at each application varies depending on the surface of the affected area, being approximately 2 - 4 g of gel (corresponding to approximately 5 - 10 cm of gel).
To absorb the gel, perform a light and prolonged massage on the painful and/or inflamed area.
After each application, wash your hands thoroughly (unless the gel is used for arthrosis localized in the fingers).
Contraindications:
Do not use Diclofenac MCC:
- if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to diclofenac sodium, to other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs or to any of the other components of this medicine.
- if you have skin lesions, such as: wet dermatosis, eczema, infected lesions, burns, wounds;
- if you have had attacks of bronchial asthma, urticaria or rhinitis allergic to acetylsalicylic acid or other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs;
- if you are pregnant in the last 4 months of pregnancy;
- in children and adolescents under 14 years of age.
Precautions:
- do not apply Diclofenac MCC to mucous membranes, especially to the eyes; do not apply Diclofenac MCC to areas with skin lesions or wounds.
- if you develop a skin rash after applying Diclofenac MCC, stop the treatment immediately.
- do not apply Diclofenac MCC to large areas of skin and for a long time, because the occurrence of general adverse reactions, known in the case of oral forms of diclofenac, cannot be excluded.
- if you use Diclofenac MCC for a long time: you must wear gloves when applying the gel.
- if you have had or have bleeding in the digestive tract.
Do not apply Diclofenac MCC under an occlusive dressing.
Diclofenac MCC can be applied in combination with iontophoresis (a procedure that uses electric current); it is applied to the negative pole (cathode).
Children and teenagers
There are insufficient data available for children and adolescents under 14 years of age regarding the efficacy and safety of administration
Pregnancy, breast-feeding and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
During the first 5 months of pregnancy, you can use Diclofenac MCC only on the doctor's recommendation, if absolutely necessary. Starting from the 6th month, you should not use Diclofenac MCC.
Because it is possible that diclofenac gel is absorbed into the blood and passes into breast milk, in nursing women a decision should be made either to discontinue breast-feeding or to discontinue/abstain from treatment with Diclofenac MCC , considering the benefit of breastfeeding for the child and the benefit of the treatment for the woman.
Driving vehicles and using machines:
Diclofenac MCC has no influence on the ability to drive vehicles and use machines.
