Acute diarrhea: The starting dose is two capsules (4 mg) for adults and adolescents and one capsule (2 mg) for children, followed by one capsule (2 mg) after each subsequent loose stool.
Chronic diarrhea: the initial dose is two capsules (4 mg) daily for adults and adolescents and one capsule (2 mg) daily for children; this initial dose should be adjusted until 1-2 hard stools per day are achieved, which is usually achieved with a maintenance dose of 1-6 capsules (2 mg-12 mg) per day.
Ileostomy patients: the starting dose is two capsules (4 mg) daily for adults and adolescents and one capsule (2 mg) daily for children; this initial dose should be adjusted until 1–2 hard stools per day are obtained, which is usually achieved with a maintenance dose of 1–6 capsules (2–12 mg) per day.
The maximum dose for acute and chronic diarrhea and in patients with ileostomy is 8 capsules (16 mg) per day for adults, in children and adolescents the dose should be determined according to body weight (3 capsules/20 kg), but 8 capsules per day cannot be exceeded.
