Matricaria recutita has been, since Antiquity, a ray of hope for people's health. Its benefits were known in Egypt, Greece or Rome, its dried flowers being used in traditional medicine. No wonder its properties were appreciated by Hippocrates (460–370 BC), Dioscorides (1st century AD) or Pliny the Elder (1st century AD).

Ingredients:

Chamomile flowers (Matricariae flos) that come from the species Matricaria recutita L., fam. Asteraceae containing mucilages, flavonoids and volatile oil rich in chamazulene and α-bisabolol.

Effect:

Anti-inflammatory, stomachic (stimulates the secretion of gastrointestinal juices), gastro-protective, antispasmodic, carminative (helps eliminate intestinal gas), bactericidal, fungicidal, cicatrizing, epithelializing.

Main uses:

• Internal use : intestinal colic, gastritis, gastric ulcer, enteritis (inflammation of the small intestine), colitis, flatulence (excessive accumulation of gas in the intestines).
• External use: canker sores, stomatitis, eczema, wounds, hemorrhoids, red or irritated skin, hair care.

Contraindications:

• Not recommended in case of hypersensitivity to this plant.
• There are no known contraindications at the recommended doses.

Preparation:

• Internal use: pour 250 ml of boiling water over a sachet and leave covered for 10-15 minutes.
• External use : Pour 250 ml of boiling water over 2-4 sachets and leave covered for 10-15 minutes.

Use:

• Internal use: drink 2-3 cups of tea a day.
• External use : compresses, gargle, local baths.
