The most important of them is the content of methylglyoxal (MGO) - a substance found naturally in honey produced from manuka bushes. 100 g of Manuka Health Manuka MGO 250+ honey contain MGO in a guaranteed amount of at least 25 mg.
Another important condition for giving a product the name of manuka honey is its origin . Each MGO manuka honey is produced only in certain indigenous areas of the New Zealand islands, where the rather rare manuka bushes ( Leptospermum scoparium ) grow.
Manuka MGO 250+ honey differs from other honeys, for example produced in Europe or from other plants, by its unusual taste , described as mineral and slightly bitter, as well as by its strong smell , reminiscent of heather and wet earth.
