Parasinus Penta, 24 tablets, Gsk

ParaSinus Penta is used to relieve cold and flu symptoms, including fever, headache, muscle aches, sore throat, and symptoms associated with sinus inflammation (stuffy nose, sinus pain, and runny nose).

Indications:

It contains five active substances:

• paracetamol, which relieves pain and lowers your temperature when you have a fever;
• caffeine, with a mild stimulating effect;
• phenylephrine hydrochloride, a decongestant that unclogs your nose and sinuses, helping you breathe easier;
• terpinhydrate, an expectorant that favors the elimination of secretions from the respiratory tract;
• vitamin C (ascorbic acid), which helps replace vitamin C that can be lost in the initial stages of colds and flu.

Active substance:

The active substances are paracetamol, caffeine, phenylephrine hydrochloride, terpinehydrate and ascorbic acid (vitamin C). Each tablet contains paracetamol 500 mg, caffeine 25 mg, phenylephrine hydrochloride 5 mg, terpinhydrate 20 mg and ascorbic acid 38 mg.

The other components are pregelatinized starch, corn starch, povidone, potassium sorbate, sodium lauryl sulfate, Eurocol twilight yellow (E 110), stearic acid, talc.

Administration method:

For oral administration.
Always take the lowest effective dose to relieve your symptoms.

Adults, elderly and adolescents (children over 12 years old): the usual dose is 1-2 tablets administered every 4-6 hours, without exceeding 8 tablets in 24 hours. The minimum interval between administrations must be 4 hours.

• Do not exceed the recommended dose.
• Do not continue the treatment for more than 7 days, without the doctor's advice.
• If symptoms persist, see your doctor.
• If symptoms do not improve or worsen after 3 days of treatment, the clinical situation should be reevaluated.

Children under 12 years of age: ParaSinus Penta is not given to children under 12 years of age.

Contraindications:

• Do not take ParaSinus Penta: if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to paracetamol, caffeine, phenylephrine hydrochloride, terpinehydrate, ascorbic acid (vitamin C) or to any of the other components of ParaSinus Penta;
• if you have severe kidney or liver disease;
• if you have glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase enzyme deficiency;
• if you have high blood pressure; if you have an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism);
• if you have diabetes; if you have pheochromocytoma (a tumor near the kidneys);
• if you are being treated with tricyclic antidepressants or monoamine oxidase-MAO inhibitors (including a period of 2 weeks after stopping treatment with them) or if you are being treated with beta-blockers;
• if you are undergoing treatment with other sympathomimetic decongestants;
• if you have angle-closure glaucoma (increased eye pressure); if you are pregnant;
• if you are taking any other prescription or over-the-counter medicines containing paracetamol to treat pain, fever, cold and flu symptoms, or to help you sleep.
• Do not administer to children under 12 years of age.
