Properties:
St. John's wort contains anthracene derivatives called hypericins (hypericin, pseudohypericin, isohypericin), flavonoids (hyperoside, rutoside, quercitin), free quercetol, caffeic acid derivatives (of the chlorogenic acid type), phloroglucinic derivatives (of the hyperforin type), catechic tannins, volatile oil (pinene), choline, carotenoids, saponosides, ascorbic acid, nicotinic acid and valerianic acid, mineral salts.
The rich content of nutrients and bioactive substances gives St. John's wort tea complex properties: sedative, cholagogue-choleretic, liver cell protective, antispasmodic, astringent, diuretic, hypotensive.
St. John's wort tea is recommended as a dietary supplement for:
- beneficial action in states of irritability, nervousness, psychomotor agitation;
- intervenes favorably in hepato-biliary dysfunctions by protecting the liver cell, in states of liver overload, in motility disorders of the gallbladder (promotes the elimination of bile by stimulating the contractions of the gallbladder); useful for people with a tendency to retain water in the body;
- alleviation of functional disorders of the digestive tract due to hypersecretion and hyperacidity of gastric juice or disorders that occur in states of nervous agitation, stress.
Ingredients/package:
- powder from aerial parts of St. John's wort (Hypericum perforatum) – 1.0 g.
Administration method:
St. John's wort tea is prepared from 1-2 sachets x 1.0 g in 250 ml of hot water, by infusing for 10-15 minutes.
The infusion is consumed unsweetened, warm or cold, 2-3 times a day, immediately after each meal (for at least 4 weeks) or whenever necessary.
The product is a food supplement and should not replace a varied and balanced diet and a healthy lifestyle.
Avoid prolonged exposure to the sun while using St. John's wort tea, as the plant contains hypericin, the photosensitizing substance.
During pregnancy, it is used limitedly and with caution only on the recommendation of the specialist.
