Sunflower honey is one of the rarest honeys in Poland. It is more popular in the east. It is obtained from the nectar of the sunflower, the annual plant with large flowers. The sunflower grows on almost any soil, and its flowers contain huge amounts of pollen. This plant sometimes reaches 2 meters in height and the flowers are about 30 centimeters in diameter. Sunflower can be grown in two ways: in beds or sown in places (for example, along fences). Interestingly, a sunflower needs 90-110 days to get mature seeds.
As a preventive measure, it is recommended to consume 2-3 spoons of honey per day. It is best to consume the first portion in the morning, before breakfast. To enhance the effects of sunflower honey, you can mix it with pollen or royal jelly.
