Osteocicatrat

Osteocicatrat Romvac is available as an ointment for external use, packaged in tubes generally containing 30 g, 50 g or 250 g of product. This pharmaceutical form allows for direct local application to the affected area, facilitating the absorption of the active substances into the superficial tissues and reducing the risk of systemic effects.

The product’s composition includes:

• Symphytum officinale (comfrey) root extract – 5 g;
• Chelidonium majus (greater celandine) plant extract – 5 g;
• neutral petrolatum as an excipient up to 100 g.

Osteocicatrat Veterinary is indicated as an adjunct in the treatment of a wide range of skin and osteoarticular conditions in dogs and cats.

With regard to dermatological conditions, the product may be used for:

• skin wounds caused by puncture or cuts;
• burns or frostbite;
• varicose ulcers;
• slow-healing eczema;
• papillomatosis, particularly following the removal of papillomas, to promote epithelial regeneration.

In addition to these indications, the ointment may also be used as an adjunct in certain musculoskeletal conditions.

Osteocicatrat is administered exclusively by topical application. The ointment is applied in a thin layer to the affected area, after the skin has been cleaned.

Treatment is usually carried out for 4–5 consecutive days. In cases where the lesions are more severe or the healing process is slower, the duration of treatment may be extended to approximately 14 days, without the risk of secondary complications.

The frequency of application may vary depending on the severity of the condition and the veterinary surgeon’s recommendation.

The use of Osteocicatrat is not recommended in animals with known hypersensitivity to any of the product’s components. Furthermore, application to very deep wounds or large areas of skin should be avoided without consulting a vet.

If unusual skin reactions occur, treatment should be discontinued and a specialist’s assessment sought.

To achieve optimal results, it is important that the affected area is cleaned before applying the ointment. In animals that tend to lick the treated area, a protective collar may be necessary to prevent ingestion of the product.

Furthermore, regular application and adherence to the recommended duration of treatment are essential for achieving the desired therapeutic effects.

In general, Osteocicatrat is well tolerated by pets. Due to its composition based on plant extracts and relatively harmless excipients, adverse reactions are rare.

In isolated cases, minor local reactions may occur, such as skin irritation or redness at the application site, particularly in animals with increased sensitivity to the product’s components.

To date, no significant interactions have been reported between Osteocicatrat and other medicines administered to pets. As the product is used topically, the risk of systemic interactions is very low.

However, in the event of concurrent use with other dermatological or antiseptic products, it is recommended to consult a vet to avoid any potential undesirable local reactions.

Given the external route of administration, overdose is unlikely. Applying a larger quantity than recommended does not usually cause systemic toxic effects.

However, excessive application may lead to product build-up on the skin or local irritation, which is why it is recommended to follow the instructions for use.

The product should be stored at temperatures below 25°C, in its original packaging, to protect the integrity of its composition.

Furthermore, the ointment must not be used after the expiry date stated on the label. The product’s shelf life is approximately two years from the date of manufacture.
