Furazolidone Forte Arena, 100 mg, 20 tablets, Arena Group

Furazolidone Arena 25 mg 10 tablets Arena Group (furazolidone) is part of the drug group: antidiarrheals, contains the active substance: furazolidone and can be used based on a doctor's recommendation in medical conditions such as: diarrhea, gastroenteritis.

Indications:

• Enteritis, infectious enterocolitis and food poisoning caused by germs sensitive to furazolidone, bacillary dysentery, giardiasis
• It can be indicated in trichomoniasis, as well as in the treatment of cholera.

Composition:

• One tablet contains 100 mg furazolidone and excipients: microcrystalline cellulose
• Polyvidone K 30, croscarmellose sodium, talc, magnesium stearate.

How to use: 

Adults

• For the treatment of cholera or other enteric infections: the recommended dose is 100 mg of furazolidone, administered orally, 4 times a day, at 6-hour intervals, for 5-7 days
• In the treatment of giardiasis, the recommended dose is 100 mg furazolidone, administered orally, 4 times a day, at 6-hour intervals, for 7-10 days.

Children

• For the treatment of cholera or other enteric infections: the recommended dose is 1.25 mg furazolidone/kg, administered orally, 4 times a day, at 6-hour intervals, for 5-7 days
• In the case of infestation with Giardia lamblia, the duration of treatment can be extended to 10 days
• It is recommended to crush and dilute the tablets with a little liquid in order to obtain a suspension, the tablets being not suitable for administration to children under 6 years of age

Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to furazolidone, other nitrofurans or any of the excipients.

Pregnancy, lactation and fertility

• Studies conducted in laboratory animals with doses much higher than those recommended for humans, administered for a long time, have not revealed fetotoxic effects. Since there are no controlled studies in pregnant women, the administration of furazolidone is not recommended during pregnancy. Administration in the last trimester of pregnancy is contraindicated due to the risk of hemolytic anemia in the fetus
• It is not known whether furazolidone is excreted in breast milk. Therefore, in nursing women, either discontinuation of treatment or discontinuation of breastfeeding should be considered. Administration in women breastfeeding infants under 1 month of age is contraindicated due to the risk of hemolytic anemia in the infant.

Driving and using machines:

• Furazolidone does not affect the ability to drive or use machines.
