Nostamine, 10 ml, Eipico Med
Indications:
Nostamine contains two medicines: naphazoline hydrochloride, which is a decongestant that works by narrowing the blood vessels in the nose, reducing swelling and congestion of the mucous membrane, and chlorphenamine maleate, which belongs to a group called antihistamines and is used to reduce allergy symptoms such as sneezing, itching, watery eyes, itchy nose or throat, and nasal discharge.
Nostamine is used to relieve symptoms of nasal congestion due to common colds, sinusitis, hay fever and other upper respiratory tract allergies and to treat eye allergies and minor eye irritations.
Nostamine also reduces burning sensation, irritation, itching and inflammation in the eyes as well as excessive tearing.
Composition:
- the active substances are: naphazoline hydrochloride and chlorphenamine maleate. One ml of eye/nasal drops, solution contains naphazoline hydrochloride 0.5 mg and chlorpheniramine maleate
- 0.5 mg.
- the other ingredients are: sodium citrate, boric acid, benzalkonium chloride, disodium edetate and purified water
Method of administration:
Always use this medicine exactly as described in this leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
The medicine can only work properly if it is administered properly.
Check that the seal on the bottle is not broken before using Nostamine for the first time. Wash your hands before using the drops. Do not touch the dropper tip to your eyes, nose or any other surface.
Eyes:
Adults and children over 12 years of age: the usual dose is 1 drop, 2-3 times a day.
Contraindications:
Do not use Nostamine if:
-if you are allergic to naphazoline hydrochloride/chlorpheniramine maleate or any of the other ingredients of this medicine.
Signs of an allergic reaction include: a rash, trouble swallowing or breathing, swelling of the lips, face, throat, tongue, and worsening redness, itching, or swelling of the eyes or eyelid.
Precautions:
-You should not wear contact lenses while using these drops.
-The medicine contains benzalkonium chloride, which can be deposited on soft contact lenses, therefore it should not be administered to contact lens wearers. Lenses should be removed before administering the drops and should not be worn for another 15 minutes after administering the medicine.
- You have high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, developing atherosclerosis, atrophic rhinitis, closed-angle glaucoma.
Pregnancy, lactation and fertility:
If you are pregnant or breast-feeding, think you may be pregnant or are planning to become pregnant, ask your doctor or pharmacist for advice before taking this medicine.
This medicine could affect the fetus's heart rate.
If you are breast-feeding or planning to breast-feed, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking or using any medicine.
Driving and using machines:
Blurred vision is possible immediately after using this medicine.
If this happens, do not drive or use any tools or machines until you can see clearly.
