Contraindications:
Contraindications represent conditions or situations in which certain drugs cannot be used or are used only after a prior complex medical analysis, because in this case, the beneficial effect is not in a favorable relationship with their negative effect. Under these conditions, the doctor must be correctly and completely informed about previous illnesses, diseases associated with concomitant treatment, as well as the conditions that individualize the case. Sometimes contraindications may appear or be known after starting treatment. And in this case the doctor must be informed.
ACC 200 is not used in children under 2 years of age due to the high content of acetylcysteine.
ACC 200 should not be used in cases of hypersensitivity to acetylcysteine.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: As there are no experiences of use during pregnancy and breast-feeding, it is recommended not to be used during these periods.
Side effects:
Medicines can have unwanted effects, so-called side effects, in addition to the main desired actions. Adverse effects that are related to the temporary use of acetylcysteine, but which may not occur in every patient, are listed below:
- Rarely, inflammation of the oral mucosa (stomatitis), headache and ringing in the ears (tinnitus) may occur.
- In isolated reports, allergic reactions are reported, such as; itching, hives, rashes, suffocation (bronchial spasm), tachycardia and low blood pressure.
- Isolated cases of bronchial spasm refer especially to patients with hyperactive bronchial system in bronchial asthma, those called "hyper-responders" (hypersensitivity to different agents).
- Cases of bleeding have been reported in connection with the administration of acetylcysteine, especially in hypersensitivity reactions.
- A decrease in platelet aggregation in the presence of acetylcysteine has also been reported, although this cannot be demonstrated clinically.
Interactions with other drugs:
The action of some drugs can be influenced by the simultaneous use of others. Therefore, ask your doctor if you are permanently using other medicines or have recently used them, or if you want to use them simultaneously with this preparation. Your doctor can tell you if side effects may occur in these conditions or if certain measures should be taken, such as: - if it is necessary to establish another dose in the administration of this medicine
The following interactions between the presented preparation and others should be considered:
- With the simultaneous use of acetylcysteine with antitussives, a stoppage of secretion can be reached due to a reduced cough reflex, so the indication for this combination is particularly cautious.
- Administration of tetracycline hydrochloride (not only doxycycline) should be done separately or at least two hours apart from administration.
- The vasodilator effect and influence on platelet aggregation when administered concomitantly with nitroglycerin has also been reported, but not clinically elucidated.
