Lopemidol 1mg/5ml x 100ml oral solution (Biofarm)

The active substance is loperamide hydrochloride, 1 mg in 5 ml oral solution. The other components are: glycerol, acesulfame potassium, sodium benzoate, citric acid monohydrate, vanillin, apricot flavor, purified water.

Therapeutic indications

Loperamide hydrochloride is an opioid drug with antidiarrheal properties.

It is useful in the symptomatic treatment of acute and chronic diarrhea in adults and children over 2 years of age.

Doses and method of administration

Oral or parenteral rehydration is recommended depending on the intensity of the diarrhea, age and

patient characteristics.

It is administered orally.

Acute diarrhea

Adults and children over 12 years old

The initial recommended dose is 4 mg of loperamide hydrochloride (20 ml of Lopemidol oral solution).

Afterwards, a dose of 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride (10 ml of Lopemidol oral solution) is recommended after each diarrheal stool, without exceeding the total daily dose of 16 mg of loperamide hydrochloride (80 ml of Lopemidol oral solution).

BOYS

Children aged between 2 and 5 years

Lopemidol is administered only on the doctor's recommendation.

The initial recommended dose is 1 mg of loperamide hydrochloride (5 ml of Lopemidol oral solution), after the first diarrheal stool.

Afterwards, a dose of 1 mg loperamide hydrochloride (5 ml oral solution Lopemidol) is recommended after each diarrheal stool, without exceeding the total daily dose of 3 mg loperamide hydrochloride (15 ml oral solution Lopemidol).

Children aged between 6 and 8 years

The initial recommended dose is 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride (10 ml of Lopemidol oral solution) after the first diarrheal stool.

Afterwards, a dose of 1 mg of loperamide hydrochloride (5 ml of Lopemidol oral solution) is recommended after each diarrheal stool, without exceeding the total daily dose of 4 mg of loperamide hydrochloride (20 ml of Lopemidol oral solution).

Children aged between 9 and 11 years

The initial recommended dose is 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride (10 ml of Lopemidol oral solution) after the first diarrheal stool.

Afterwards, a dose of 1 mg of loperamide hydrochloride (5 ml of Lopemidol oral solution) is recommended after each diarrheal stool, without exceeding the total daily dose of 6 mg of loperamide hydrochloride (30 ml of Lopemidol oral solution).

Chronic diarrhea

Grown ups

The recommended dose is 2 mg of loperamide hydrochloride (10 ml Lopemidol oral solution) 1-3 times a day.

Children over 8 years old

The recommended dose is 1 mg loperamide hydrochloride (5 ml Lopemidol oral solution) 1-2 times a day.

The duration of treatment for adults is up to two days.

The duration of treatment for children will be determined by the doctor.

Precautions

Treatment with loperamide can be accompanied, if necessary, by rehydration. The need for liquids must be determined according to the severity of the diarrhea, the age and condition of you or your child.

in the case of acute diarrhea, if no improvement is observed since the start of the treatment, the administration of loperamide must be stopped and the doctor will reevaluate the treatment scheme.

Special warnings

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, fertility
