Paracetamol Atb suppositories are part of the class of drugs known as analgesic-antipyretics.
Paracetamol is used to reduce mild to moderate pain and fever.
Composition:
- The active substance is paracetamol
- Each suppository contains paracetamol 125 mg
- The other components are: solid fat.
Method of administration:
- Paracetamol Atb suppositories are administered intrarectally
- Suppositories should be administered whole
- It is not recommended to split the suppositories before use.
- Given the fact that the recommended dose for children under 6 months of age is lower than the amount of active substance contained in Paracetamol Atb 125 mg suppositories, pharmaceutical forms suitable for this age group, with appropriate concentrations, must be used
Children aged 6 to 12 months (7-10 kg)
- The recommended dose is 125 mg paracetamol (one suppository Paracetamol Atb 125 mg) 1 - 4 times a day
- Interval between administrations: 4 - 6 hours
- Maximum dose per day: 500 mg paracetamol (4 suppositories Paracetamol Atb 125 mg).
Children aged between 1 and 3 years (10-15 kg)
- The recommended dose is 250 mg paracetamol (2 suppositories Paracetamol Atb 125 mg) 1 - 3 times a day
- Interval between administrations: 4 - 8 hours
- Maximum dose per day: 750 mg paracetamol (6 suppositories Paracetamol Atb 125 mg).
Children aged between 3 and 6 years (15-22 kg)
- The recommended dose is 250 mg paracetamol (2 suppositories Paracetamol Atb 125 mg) 1 - 4 times a day
- Interval between administrations: 4 - 8 hours
- Maximum dose per day: 1000 mg paracetamol (8 suppositories Paracetamol Atb 125 mg).
Children aged between 6 and 9 years (22-30 kg)
- The recommended dose is 250-500 mg paracetamol (2 to 4 suppositories Paracetamol Atb 125 mg) 3 times a day
- Interval between administrations: 4 - 8 hours
- Maximum dose per day: 1500 mg paracetamol (12 suppositories Paracetamol Atb 125 mg).
Children aged between 9 and 12 years (30-40 kg)
- The recommended dose is 250-500 mg paracetamol (2 to 4 suppositories Paracetamol Atb 125 mg) 4 times a day
- Interval between administrations: 4 - 8 hours
- Maximum dose per day: 2000 mg paracetamol (16 suppositories Paracetamol Atb 125 mg)
- If under the treatment with paracetamol, the pain does not reduce in 5 days and the fever does not subside or reappears in 3 days, it is necessary to re-evaluate the diagnosis and the treatment.
Precautions:
- Take special care when using Paracetamol Atb
- If you have liver diseases, including viral hepatitis (the risk of hepatotoxicity of paracetamol is increased); in the case of long-term treatment with high doses of paracetamol, it is necessary to monitor liver functions
- If you have severe kidney failure (only in the case of long-term treatment with high doses of paracetamol, occasional treatment being acceptable)
- If you have diarrhoea.
