Cyclodynon

Cyclodynon Bionorica is available as film-coated tablets, packed in boxes of 30 units. 

Each film-coated tablet contains 20 mg of dry extract of Vitex agnus castus L., fructus (extraction ratio 7-11:1), obtained using 70% ethanol (v/v) as the extraction solvent.

Cyclodynon is indicated for the treatment of premenstrual syndrome in adult women over the age of 18. It is intended to relieve cyclic symptoms occurring during the luteal phase, such as:

• breast tenderness and breast tension;
• irritability and emotional instability;
• headache and a sensation of pressure in the head;
• water retention and bloating;
• general discomfort associated with the menstrual cycle.

Thanks to its mechanism of action, Vitex agnus castus extract may help to balance prolactin secretion and indirectly regulate luteal activity, thereby alleviating premenstrual symptoms.

The recommended dose for adult women over the age of 18 is one coated tablet once a day. The tablets should be swallowed whole, with a sufficient amount of liquid (e.g. a glass of water), without being chewed.

To achieve the best therapeutic effect, continuous use for at least 3 consecutive months is recommended. 

Cyclodynon is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Vitex agnus castus extract or to any of the product’s excipients.

Furthermore, the product is not recommended during pregnancy, as there are no therapeutic indications for its use during this period and the available data are insufficient to support its safety. During breastfeeding, use is not recommended due to the lack of adequate data on excretion into breast milk and on possible effects on the infant.

In the case of patients with renal or hepatic impairment, it is recommended to consult a doctor before starting treatment.

Before starting treatment, patients are advised to consult their doctor or pharmacist, particularly if they have hormonal or endocrine disorders.

It is important to read the package leaflet carefully and in full before use, as it contains essential information for the correct and safe administration of the medicine.

Like all medicines, Cyclodynon can cause side effects, although not all patients will experience them. Reported side effects include:

• mild gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, abdominal discomfort);
• headache;
• dizziness;
• allergic skin reactions (rash, itching, hives).

If you experience hypersensitivity reactions or unusual symptoms, stop taking the medicine and consult a doctor.

No conclusive clinical data are available on significant drug interactions. However, given the potential effect on the dopaminergic and prolactin axes, caution is recommended when administered concomitantly with medicines that affect hormone levels (oral contraceptives) or dopaminergic treatments (antipsychotics).

There are no specific dietary restrictions associated with the use of Cyclodynon and it may be taken with or without food.

No cases of overdose with Cyclodynon have been reported. In the event of accidental ingestion of a quantity exceeding the recommended dose, medical assistance should be sought, particularly if digestive or neurological symptoms appear.

Treatment is symptomatic and supportive, depending on the clinical manifestations present.

Cyclodynon must be stored in its original packaging, at temperatures in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations, protected from moisture and excessive light.

The medicine must be kept out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use the product after the expiry date stated on the packaging.
