Phospholipid-based supplements are available in the form of soft capsules, designed to facilitate absorption and increase the stability of the lipid compounds. There is also a version in the form of a hand or face cream, containing phospholipid extract and calendula.

Protego Phospholipids 600 mg, 30 capsules contains 600 mg of phospholipids per capsule, of which 126 mg is phosphatidylcholine. Protego Phospholipids 300 mg, 45 capsules contains 300 mg of phospholipids per capsule, of which 63 mg is phosphatidylcholine.

SEMA Lab Phospholipids Max provides 600 mg of phospholipids per capsule, of which 158 mg is phosphatidylcholine and 18 mg is choline.

Supplements containing essential phospholipids are recommended as an adjunct for:

• Supporting liver function, particularly in cases of liver overload, high-fat diets, chronic medication use or exposure to toxins.
• Balancing lipid metabolism, helping to improve the fluidity of cell membranes and optimise the intracellular transport of lipids.
• The process of cell regeneration, thanks to the role of phosphatidylcholine in the synthesis of the liver cell membrane.
• Increased oxidative stress or periods of metabolic exhaustion, when the body uses up its natural reserves of phospholipids more rapidly.

For Protego Phospholipids 600 mg, the recommended dose is one capsule per day, to be taken with water, preferably with meals to facilitate optimal absorption of the phospholipids.

For Protego Phospholipids 300 mg, two capsules per day are recommended, which may be taken with water in a single dose or divided into two doses, depending on the user’s preference and tolerability.

For SEMA Lab Phospholipids Max 600 mg, the standard dose for adults and adolescents over 16 years of age is one capsule per day, to be taken with meals.

The Phospholipids for the Liver supplement is contraindicated in cases of:

• Allergy or hypersensitivity to the ingredients, including allergy to soya or gelatine
• Children under 12 years of age, without medical advice

Pregnant or breastfeeding women should consult a specialist before use, as clinical data on the intake of phospholipids in these populations is limited.

When using the Phospholipids supplement, it is recommended:

• Taking it with meals, for optimal absorption of the lipid compounds.
• Take continuously for several weeks, as phospholipids exert progressive effects by integrating into cell membranes.

Any variation in the colour of the capsules, as noted by the manufacturer, is considered normal and does not affect the product’s efficacy.

Phospholipids are generally well tolerated. Adverse reactions, which are rare and mild, may include:

• gastrointestinal disturbances (mild nausea, bloating, lingering taste of lipids);
• hypersensitivity reactions to soya or gelatine (skin rashes, itching, swelling);

In the event of severe reactions, discontinue use immediately.

Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking, have recently taken or intend to take any other medicines.

Interaction between phospholipids and anticoagulant medicines cannot be ruled out; therefore, it is important to inform your doctor if you are undergoing such treatment, as an adjustment to the anticoagulant dose may be necessary.

Overdose with phospholipids is rare, as they are natural compounds. However, excessive consumption may cause abdominal discomfort, diarrhoea and nausea.

In such cases, consult your doctor, who will assess the severity of the symptoms and determine the appropriate treatment.

Store at a temperature between 15 and 25 °C, in a dry place away from light. Keep out of reach of children. Store in the original packaging to protect from moisture. Refrigeration or freezing is not recommended.
